Back to basics...Typing

For this week, I did some poking around the web and came across the website typing.com. This site promises free access to users and is set up for both teacher and student accounts. I signed up for an account and tried a couple of the basic exercises on it. I can report that the site works well and the activities are challenging, but fun. Teachers can set up classes, monitor progress and assign grades based on activities.

With my school and many others moving to one-to-one devices, it is important that we go back to teaching the basics for students.
Furthermore, it has been my observation that students are more prone to using a phone over a tablet over a computer. Increasingly, students use traditional computers less and less. The knowledge is sub par to basic if anything. Hopefully with time and a a collaborative effort, we can use resources such as this to increase proper computer use as students are being given laptops.
